Happ's MMM is a "fact-finding mission" to gather statistics on the ability of Miniature Horses performing a full three-section Combined Driving Event Marathon as conducted by the current rules of the American Driving Society. It is not a judged event. The following additional rules apply.

  1. Helmets are mandatory for all Drivers, Grooms/Navigators, and passengers while driving on the property. Provide your own helmets. Protective vests are also recommended.
  2. Medical armbands are required at all times for anyone riding on a cart or carriage. ADS armbands are available for purchase with entry and at the show office.
  3. No schooling on the course until after the MMM, and then only by permission of the organizer.
  4. Pre-Competition checklist must be turned in prior to driving. Competitors are responsible for being certain their harness(es) and vehicle(s) are in good repair and equine fit.
  5. Participants may drive more than one turnout, scheduling permitting.
  6. Dogs must be tied in camp, or on a leash and under control at all times. No dogs are allowed in the barn or office. A fine of $25 will be imposed for each infraction of this rule.
  7. Equine will follow a marked course consisting of Section A (approximately 4.5km), Section D (1km) and Section E (5-6km with 5 hazards). For purposes of the statistics we are gathering, we ask that you declare your turnout's level of competition.
The purpose of our research this year is to determine appropriate speeds for the various levels of Very Small Equine (Miniature Horses) competing in Combined Driving Events. We feel we need at least 20 VSE entries to have our statistics be valid and seen as credible. We will also be asking for a few ponies and horses so that we can compare statistics.

As we did in 2005, we will weigh each equine as well as the vehcile, harness and human(s) it will be pulling. Each equine will have pulse, respiration and temperature recorded prior to hitching. Vital stats will then be taken at the end of Section D and the end of Section E as well as 10 minutes and 30 minutes after the end of Section E so that we can evaluate recovery rates.

Horse and Pony entries will be asked to drive the Marathon as they normally do-aiming for "the window" at the appropriate speeds for their size and level. VSE entries will be asked to ignore "the window" and drive the three sections similarly to how ponies and horses drive them in order to make their windows-that means a good working trot around Sections A and E and a good forward, marching walk on Section D.

Section A approximately 4.5 km, Section D 1 km,
Section E 5 km to 6 km.
