Our thanks to volunteers, competitors and officials for making this another successful event.
We had 28 competitors this year--familiar faces and some new ones.
Marc Johnson made the cross-country trip to be our TD this year and we found him to be
knowledgeable and great to work with. He left us with a few drawings of ideas to improve
some of the permanent hazards. Judging duties were handled by Margo Clark, also of
Massachusetts, and she kept things rolling smoothly and efficiently.
Sandra and Bruce Carr stepped up to get some "hands-on learning" by taking on the
responsibilities of show secretary and helped with some set up as part of their "training"
for becoming organziers when they move to their new home in New Mexico.
Sue of Sowerby's Restaurant in Chehalis handled the food so well in June we asked her
back. Looks like we may have found the answer to our food needs. She ran her concession
stand trailer for lunches and then served a great prime rib dinner in our picnic canopy. We
intend to keep having her back.
Weather was not 100% cooperative, but everyone dealt with the short light rain that
we had. Competitors (horses and equine) turned in good performances and seemed to enjoy
the courses. The Covered Bridge is getting closer to being finished, it will be totally
done for next June, and everyone was able to see the start of our next hazard as it comes
off the drawing board and into actual being.
Our great photographer, Wendi Ross, unveiled some of her new calendars, and you can now go to Blue Ribbon Equine Photography (Wendi Ross) Calendars for a selection of top-quality calendars featuring Happ's competitors.......
