Day 1:
Orientation
Harnessing demonstration and practice
Harness and collar fitting for safety, comfort and function
Clear communication with driving horses-voice, line handling skills, bits, and aids
Driving exercises-students drive
Demonstration hitching single horse and team
Driving practice with single horses and teams on vehicles
| Day 2:
Review, discussion, and questions and answers
Ground driving demonstration
Ground driving-obstacle courses and log skidding
Hitching single and team-safety, techniques, strategies and practice
Driving practice with single horses and teams on vehicles
| Day 3:
Review, discussion, and questions and answers
Improving driving skills while driving and working horses (on vehicles, equipment)
Safety considerations will be of paramout importance as well as maintaining clear, understandable communication with horses and keeping them feeling safe, comfortable and willing at all times.
This is not a horse training or problem solving workshop per se, the horses provided and brought by participants are expected to be trained to drive and well-behaved.
