Thomas Smith

Thomas Smith has been navigating in Combined Driving Events for the past 13 years, participating in events across the United States. Usually he navigates for his wife, Debra, with either their single or pair of Morgans, but he also navigates for others when she doesn't need him. Thomas navigates for several FEI level drivers including Leslie Berndl (US driver in the World Singles competition in Poland), Diane Kastama (2007 Paralympic driving Gold Medal Winner) and Jose Hernandez (driving with Debbie Banfield at the Gayla Driving Center in Kentucky).

It is usually easy to find Thomas at events as he is the one helping other drivers and navigators with hazard options, checking times and strategy for the current course terrain and weather conditions, or pulling maintenance on a vehicle.

Thomas started a series of navigating clinics for California drivers and navigators in 2007 to share his experience and knowledge with others interested in the sport of Combined Driving.
