Biography

Simon Rosenman

Simon Rosenman's earliest memories of horses were ground driving his grandfather's Clydesdales to the water trough at the age of 5. Summers and holidays were always cherished with time spent on the working horse farm riding and driving. The years at university and flying 747's throughout the world was always accompanied with a mix of other business partnerships from commercial fishing, operating sailing schools and flight training. One particular venture in the photography business reacquainted him with horses around the time when Prince Charles and Lady Diana were married. It seemed as though every bride was looking for a dream wedding including horses and carriage. Soon each of the three partners were taking driving lessons and looking for horses to pull the new coach. After retiring the business and discovering competition driving, he has been active in all aspects of the sport.

As President of the former Canadian Driving Society, Simon was instrumental in leading the driving coach community to create the Learn to DriveŠ program and restructuring the training components; organizing licensed officials development clinics and is chair of the FEI's Rule Change Committee. Simon holds a number of current equestrian related executive positions: President Drive Canada; Director ADS; Director Equine Canada; Finance Committee Chair, Equine Canada Sport Division; and member of the Canadian Equestrian Council.

Currently licensed by the FEI, Equine Canada, USEF and ADS, Simon is a Judge, Technical Delegate and Course Designer in Pleasure and Combined Driving, and has worked at many competitions throughout North America. He finds organizing clinics, seminars and driving trial events and enjoyable experience, especially for newcomers to the sport in competition and recreational driving as well as competition. Simon has organized and delivered numerous driving seminars; judging, technical and course design development clinics, and organizer workshops throughout North America and Europe including event organization, administration and scoring. He really enjoys meeting and working in the equestrian community to promote our sport of driving.
