Nancy Myers has had horses for the past fifty years. For many years she rode and showed her first Morgan horse in Western pleasure, equitation
and trail classes. When he became a senior citizen, Nancy looked for another horse. The Morgan mare that she bought, BlueOak Buttercup, had not
been ridden, but had been started as a driving horse. Nancy knew nothing about driving. She was told, “Go ahead and make her a saddle horse and
when you’re ready to drive, she’ll teach you how.” That is exactly what happened. And when Nancy started driving, she never looked back.
Nancy has shown her Morgan horses successfully in combined driving, pleasure driving, and the Morgan breed ring for over twenty years. She drives single, pair and tandem. Nancy is a recorded judge with the A.D.S. in both Combined Driving and Driven Dressage.
In June 2011, Nancy retired from 38 years in public education as a teacher, administrator and high school counselor. She is very excited about being able to spend more time with her wonderful horses and dogs. She currently has three Morgans, all out of that first amazing mare that taught her to drive. She also has two Australian Shepherds, Rob and Lovey, who excel in obedience and agility. Life is good!
