Emery started riding at 5 yrs old in Northern England where she lived with her family. Soon after, she was hill topping on a lead line with her mother in the local foxhunts. She went on to foxhunting as a teenager with the Middleburg Hunt in Virginia and later the Comargo Hunt in Cincinnati,Ohio and the Tacoma Hunt in Washington. She also competed Jumpers and Eventers during high school and college years. She was the riding counselor for three years running at Camp Treetops in the Adirondack Mtns. |
Her love for driving began serendipitously while navigating during a cross country schooling behind four matching greys in Belgium in the early 70’s. Her own driving experience began in the late ‘90s with Katmandu, her Hackney pony, and she joined the ADS in 2000. Emery has taken clinics with Muffy Seaton, Hardy Zantke, Drew Callahan, Lisa Singer and Bill Lower. She has also taken a multiples clinic from Hardy Zantke and attended two national level ADS Judging clinics. She has competed over the last eleven years in CDE’s in Oregon, Washington, California and Arizona with her Hackney gelding Katmandu, her Morgan gelding, King of the Road, and her Welsh cross mare, Rivendell’s New Clue.

She has written several articles for The Whip and Wheelhorse. Emery is currently working towards her “r” for CDE Judging with the ADS. Over the last two years, she has Learner Judged at the Grass Ridge CDE in Arizona with Lisa Singer and Tracy Morgan; at the Arizona CDE and Advanced HDT with Debbie Banfield and Marybeth Goree; at Happ's with Micky Bowen; with Hardy Zantke at Inavale; and with Boots Wright, Debbie Banfield, Francois Bergeron and Holly Pulsifer at Shady Oaks in California. To augment her knowledge in dressage and judging, Emery has audited ridden dressage clinics with Olympic rider Lendon Grey and FEI "I" Judge Lilo Fore as well as USDF “L” program clinics for judging.
